The despatch of 23 April would not reach us till 26 May. I fear there would be no use consulting Sir W. des Voeux just now. He is not well & is evidently rather bothered when we refer any point to him.
At end of February (see 6763) nearly $400,000 was in this fund in the Hongkong Bank, i.e. over £60,000. It now appears to be reduced below £40,000, which looks as if some local purchases...
