With reference to your letters of the 26th of December and the 12th of March last, I am directed by Lord Knutsford to enclose for your information a copy of despatch from the Acting Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of an allowance to the children of the late M. J. S. Brewer. Lord Knutsford regrets that there are no sufficient grounds for making the grant in question.
