1.2. Surveyor General's Department, together with a copy of a letter dated the 15th of February last in which Mr. Brown explains his proposals.
2. On his tabulated form, W. Brown has shown on one side the present staff of that Office with their salaries, dates, and terms of engagements; on the other, the Staff he proposes for the future.

Subsequently to Mr. Brown having submitted this scheme for consideration, two letters were written by Mr. Malsch: in one, he complained that he was about to be overlooked, inasmuch as it was proposed that some of the higher appointments with increased emoluments should be filled by persons unconnected with the Department at the time he left the Colony; in the other, requesting that some increase might be made in his present salary.
