appointed whilst retaining his title of Chief Inspector, should be appointed to
Deputy Supt
and Adjutant with
an addition to

pay of $60 over this pay, Major
Dempster whilst acting
as Supt of the Gaol receiving only half
the pay of the Adjutant
of the Police.
Should
Major Dempster cease
to act as
Supt
of the Gaol before his
extended military service
