Officer Administering The Government, he will be pleased to move the Right Honourable The Secretary of State for the Colonies, to allow me to retain the Adjutancy until my term of Military Service expires in the Colony.

I have been nearly seven years attached to the Police, the first year and a half of which I commanded the Force, the remainder of the time and up to date as Adjutant.

As Adjutant, besides looking after the drill and discipline of the Force and their musketry training, I have assisted the Captain Superintendent generally in his duties, visiting outstations, patrolling, and under his general supervision.

I can with confidence refer the Right Honourable to His Excellency Sir George J. Bowen late Governor, Sir William Marsh late Colonel, and to the Colonial Secretary, Captain Superintendent of Police, under whom I have served with reference to the manner in which I performed my duties.

If my request is granted it will make but little difference to the Colonial Government, but would make a great difference in the pecuniary point of view.
