WM. Goodman, the recently appointed Attorney General. On Mr. Goodman's arrival in the Colony a few weeks ago, I caused him to be informed, in accordance with the instructions contained in Your Lordship's despatch, No 2 of the 3rd of January 1890, that all fees hitherto paid to the Attorney General of Hongkong in connection with the Registration of Trade Marks or for any other service, must in future be paid into the Treasury.
In reply to the communication made to him, Mr. Goodman wrote the letter (copy enclosed) of the 24th of March, in which he states that when he accepted the appointment of Attorney General, he naturally expected that he would receive the ordinary official...
