after due enquiry to a request made by Mr Westland just before his departure, that he might be granted 4 months' vacation leave instead of 3½ months.

It appears that last July Mr Westland obtained two weeks' sick leave on medical certificate, which he spent in the Colony at the Peak. The leave was officially recorded in the Audit Office as vacation leave, and accordingly on his recent application only 3¼ months were allowed him. As however his application for the leave in question was treated as an application for sick leave, which it seems it is not usual to deduct, I consider that the full 4 months' vacation leave may be granted in this case, and I shall…
