: the Audit of the Accounts of this Colony, and to inform you that I laid the despatch before the members of the Executive Council, who advised that

Your Lordship's directions —

should be carried out in

regard to the transfer of the preparation of the Colonial accounts from the local Audit Office to the Treasurer as

from the 1st of January last, and I

have given the necessary orders accordingly.

2.

But the Council advised, bearing in mind

the multifarious duties that Mr Lister, the present

Treasurer and Postmaster General, has to perform, that until the arrival

of the new Local Auditor

a change in the title the present Auditor General should be made, and that the Colonial Secretary should,
