I have already recommended the Registrar General to Your Lordship as being fit to have a seat in the Council, and I was accordingly desirous of carrying out, as far as I could, what I believed to be the wishes of a Governor for whom I am acting.
I am not aware that there is any immediate prospect of a vacancy occurring which would enable Mr Ackroyd's wishes to be complied with. I should be very glad if any favourable opportunity present itself for offering him promotion, and I feel sure that Your Lordship will give due consideration to his claims.
