I am directed by the Secretary of State to acknowledge the receipt

of your despatch of the 18th instant notifying your arrival

and proposal to leave Hongkong on six weeks' leave of absence

with full salary, commencing from the 20th, to be followed by leave on

half salary for a period which will be fixed at a later date at the

Convenience of the amount of half pay leave which

I am to inform you that the Crown Agents for the Colonies, Downing

Street, have received instructions to issue to you your

full pay during that period together with half pay subsequently;

and also to pay Lieut. S. Aubyn half pay for three months from the 20th.
