is established on a firm footing, the question of establishing Girls' Schools in the villages will be fully considered.

I propose to carry out at once Dr Citel's recommendation that in the Villages Grant Aided Schools should be converted into Government Schools, thereby ensuring attendance of boys who are at present only deterred from going to school by poverty and the want of accommodation. The change will involve an expenditure of $1224 per annum, and I am about to ask a vote for the necessary sum, at that rate, to effect the change during the remaining months of the current year.

The furniture which belonged to the Central School has, I may mention, been already placed at the disposal
