I have to report my arrival in England on nine months leave and request that the Crown Agents may be authorized to issue my pay.
On applying for my passage in the Colony, I was told that I was not entitled to it, because my service only reached ten years next November. At the expiration of the first five years service I did not come home, but received the bonus instead of the free passage. I was obliged to come to Europe before the expiration of the five years because of urgent family affairs,
