I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th inst., enclosing copy of a letter from the Treasury relative to the proposed amendment of the Hongkong Ordinances affecting this Corporation's Bank Note issue, and informing me that on learning that the Bank will deposit securities to the value of Two millions, five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000), Lord Knutsford will at once authorize the Governor of Hongkong to introduce the required amending Ordinance, of which you have handed me a draft.
