Mr Johnson has called my attention to the Chinese Emigration Consolidation Ordinance which had escaped my recollection and not having here sent to the Library from the Competitive Examination.

It has been sent back from the Senior Mr. but I have not yet received it.

The 16th instant was written & as alleged by Mr. Gram;

I have the honor to request that the Statute Law Revision Committee may be informed how far the opinion of the Secretary of State, the provisions of the Chinese Passengers Act 1855 (18 & 19 Vict, c 106) have been superseded by Legislation in Hong Kong and whether certain portions of that Act affecting Hong Kong may not be repealed.

The Under Secretary of State for the Colonies to be informed.
