With reference to your letter of the 11th June last, respecting the extension of the Praya Wall at Hong Kong, I am directed to acquaint you--for the information of Lord Knutsford--that the Secretary of State for War has given his best consideration to the proposals therein put forward, and regrets that he is unable to agree to the War Department defraying the cost of the contemplated extension of the Praya and reclamation in front of North Barracks.
