I am directed to inform you that the sum which my Lords require you to repay, may be paid by a cheque in favour of the Paymaster-General.
When the money has been once repaid it cannot be returned to you.
Should you repay the amount in question, my Lords will inform the Civil Service Commissioners, on receiving an inquiry from them on the subject, that the Education Department has no objection to your receiving an appointment in the public service.
