My Dear Mr Alabaster,

His Excellency the Viceroy
exceedingly surprised to receive
your telegram last night, Immediately
on its receipt, telegrams
the military
were
sent to
authorities. His Excellency
does not think that the rumour has
any foundation; but,
of course, in
of
case of accident, the Kowloon officials
will be held responsible,
I write this by instruction of His Excellency the Viceroy .
