4. It will be necessary for you to express your acceptance of the conditions stated in the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs of this letter before your appointment can be completed.
5. If you are prepared to accept the appointment on these conditions, you should present yourself to Dr. Gage Brown, of 88. Sloane Street, London, S. W., on any day between the hours of 10 and 11.30 a.m., for the The annexed letter is to be detached purpose of being medically examined. and left with him; and you will be required to pay him a fee of one guinea He will send his report direct to this Department.
6. If appointed, you will be provided with a free passage to the Colony, on your signing the usual agreement with the Crown Agents for the Colonies, Downing Street, S.W., by which you will be bound to repay to the Colonial Government the cost of your passage in the event of your relinquishing your appointment within three years of the date of your arrival in the Colony for any other reason than mental or physical infirmity.
7. You will be entitled to half salary from the date of your embarkation
from this country.
S. I am to request that you will inform me of the earliest date at which you will be prepared to leave for the Colony, in order that the necessary communications may be made to the Governor and to the Crown Agents.
