Petition from Ng Tung.

783

Hongkong, 17th. July, 1889.

A petition from Ng Tung living in No.12 Sham Sui Po

praying for the deliverance of certain persons from the

custody of the Chinese Mandarins.

?

Petitioner begs to state that Ng Lam-ohải alias Ng¬

i and Tsang Shii alias Tsang Luk...and others have been

law-abiding persons. Unfortunately on the 12th. of this!

moon (9th. July,1889) an officer from the Kowloon Poli-

ce Station ordered 30 soldiers, 3 of whom were not re-

gulars, to enter petitioner's shop. These men game over

the boundary fully armed and assaulted and seized fang-

cent persons.

Considering that the English Authorifica were not`

communicated with before despatching soldiers to make

arrest, which was therefore treating the British Flag

with contempt as well as being entirely' illegal, Peti-

tioner is constrained to bring this case before Your Ho-

nour with a request that you will be pleased to have the

wrong redressed, and to have the sufferers Ny i and Tsang

Luk relieved from the daily torture which they are under

going at the Lands of the Chinese Mandarins.

Petitioner humbly begs tuat Your Honour will be

good enough to communicate with the Shinese Authorities

for their rendition to Hongkong for trial, a favour

which Petitioner will ever remember.
