A free Second Class passage shall be provided for the suic Robert Chapman to Hong Kong and on the saksfackry termination of his Three years engagement if his services shall then be dispensed with back to England and if this Agreement shall be terminated by the Government under the preceding Clause the said Government shall also provide the said Robert Chapman with a free, Second Class passage to England provided the conduct of the said Robert Chapman shall have been satisfactor during his service, and shall in either case also pay to him. half- salary during the time occupied on the voyage home and in the event of the said Robert Chapman bung compelled at any time during the period of Three years to resign his

If the paid Robert Chapman shall, at any time, neglect refuse or from any cause fother than illness, not caused by t own impropricty of conduct) become unable to perform or comply with all or any of the Articles of this Agreement, or all or any of the duties required of him, or all or any of the orders or

directions of the Government, or shall in anymanner misconduc himself, it shall be lawful for the Government to declare the employment of the said Robert Chapman, under this Agreement to be at an end and thereupon his engagement shall cease und this Agreement shall not have any further prospective operation or force and all rights and benefits reserved to the said Robert Chapman shall cease but without prejudice to the enforcement of existing claims.

If the paid Robert Chapman should fail to proceed to Hong Kong as required or within the period of Three year from the date of his arrival there either quit the service of the paid Tovernment without leave or relinquish his appoint. ment or be dismissed or removed from his appointment in consequence of misconduct he the said Robert Chapman

shall refund, and repay to the said Government for the time being a to the Crown Agents for the Colonies in London for the time being the amount paid for his passage to Hong Kong Provided always that nothing heran contained shall bind or oblige the said Robert Chapman to repay the said passege money & if at the time he shall relinquish his said appointment a quit the service of the said Txvernment as aforesaid he shall produce to the Government a Certificate signed by one or more duly qualified Medical Practitioners to the effect that he the said Robert Chapman is unable from bodily or mental infirmity to continue in the performance of his duty as such Sencor Ward Master. 7. Upon the termination of the period of three years if the conduct of the said Robert Chapman has been satisfactory and it is mutually desired the said Nobert Chapman phull. be placed on the permanent Civil Service of the Colony, and shall become entitled to the privileges of the Service as regards leave of absence pensions to but in case his services are dispensed with except on the ground of misconduct he shall be provided with a free return passage to England as provided in Clause it. The said Robert Chapman agrees to make no claim upon the Government in pespect of any fluctuation in the value of the dollar. The paid Crown Agents for the Colonies, shall, not be personally liable for anything contained in this Agreement.
