Not apparently sought any reply to the communication addressed to him on 13th ult by H. M. Consul in consequence of the information received from the Governor of Hongkong in connection with the proceedings in British waters which led to the forcible arrest of the above-mentioned Wo A. Jung.
The despatch from the Governor of Hongkong to H. M. Minister recording the details of the case as they were then known was dated the 29th ult, and at that time the Viceroy had not yet answered H. M. Consul, although report of Wo A. Fung having been executed had reached Hongkong.
But H. M. Minister is now in possession of H. E's reply written on the 18th ult.
