The Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury have learnt from a letter of the 20th ultims from the Foreign Office that copies have been sent by that Department to the Colonial office of the Despatch of the 4th May last of Her Majesty's Minister at Tokyo, relative to an offer made by the Japanese Government to coin for the use of the Hong Kong Government Japanese silver Yen, at a charge of one per cent, provided that those coins be made legal tender in the Colony.

The papers on the subject which have been received in this Department have been referred to the Deputy Master of the Mint, and a copy of his Report has been sent to the Under Secretary of State, Colonial Office.
