are not in að are possession specified is not entitled to compensation; whilst the 8. paragraph say: But if it is "the fact that you are short of so many square feet in your lease, this deficiency affords ground for adjustment by reduction of rent or return of premises or in such other way as may be just; but it is a "matter which you must settle with the "Colonial Government.

It would thus appear that if it can be proved that Marine Lot 2484 is deficient in area, the case is one for adjustment by the Colonial Government in a way that may be just. To prove deficiency, it is not necessary to go further than M. Dauby's plan, now in the Supreme Court, made for the purposes of the trial, on which Mr. gives the measurement of 65 feet as the actual existing measurement of the Southern boundary of Marine Lot 2484, and 570 feet as the measurement of the boundary. If His Excellency the Governor will give instructions for this boundary to be measured, and 105 feet be found accordingly, I will relieve the Government from all further trouble in the matter.

Waiting the favor of your reply,

I have,

     To. Tho. Howard
