One of the most
important of the facts which
I had in
my mind was
that
far from Mr Stephens having
taken no
matter, as
proceedings in the
alleged by Mr Howard,
his pulling down
of
his
neighbour's wall was what led to the lawsuit. Moreover,
in June, 1886, Mr. Stephens was offered the five feet in Witty
Street which had been taken
to increase its width, and this
offer he refused.
