With reference to your letter No. 79 of the 10th instant, in reply to my letter No. 144 of the 6th instant, regarding the Rendition of Chan A-Sik and the Acting Attorney General's criticism of the evidence produced at the trial before the Police Magistrate. I have the honour by direction of the Governor to inform you that this Government is quite willing that you should do as you think best with regard to Ackroyd's evidence.

2. I have now got your remarks on the Draft to observe that you refer in another letter (No. 1415 of the 10th instant) in reply to the Viceroy's despatch.
