Gentlemen,
I have the honour, by direction of H. E. the Acting Governor, to acknowledge the receipt of your letters of the 8th and 9th instant relative to the case of Tan Tik Cheung alias Ching Jam, and to inform you that it was considered necessary to send you a reply, until the matter had been referred to the Acting Attorney General, whose observations were received yesterday.
The case is now before the Magistrate.
