Sir,
60, Queen's Road, Hongkong,
September 8th 1887,
We have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of this day's date in which you say that the case of Chan Tito-chaing has been carefully considered by the Governor in Council, who is of opinion that the evidence in the case does not warrant the rendition of accused to the Chinese Government that H.E. has ordered his discharge accordingly,
Upon receipt of your letter we proceeded to the Gaol and found that the prisoner had been re-arrested under a warrant issued on the 9th
The Hon. J. Stewart, H.D.
