Manch at about 11. a.m
the
above mentioned Hoki came
lo
honce and in the
presence of fhow a sing
and others informed
informed me
that since he had been examined
as a
witness in the case
of
Regina v. Long Ayan the
above named Li Loi had sent a
large
number
of
soldiers to
Sam trai the native village of
the said Stoke that he had arrested
five of the gentry,
two tipaoes, the
said Stoke's elder brother and
several
of
the clansmen
of
the said Stoke,
in all
9.
Ki,
said Stoke's
were compelled to
supply the said soldiers with
food.
10.
The said Hoki further said that he had been provided
with clothes and a
Singapore
passage to
that he could
not attend any further Court to give evidence
for or against
on behalf of
the said
Leung Ayan as if
he did so the said Li Loi would
punish him
and his relations.
When the said Hoki said
this he was dressed in new
clothes, in the
presence of about 20 persons.
The said Stoke further said that the said Li Loi had billetted
about 100 soldiers in the
ancestral temple of the
said
Stoke at Samwai aforesaid and that the family of
the
said

was armed with
a loaded revolver.

I verily
believe the
statement of the said Stoke to be true and that he is prevented by the said Li Loi from attending before the Supreme Court on the trial of the
said Leung Ayou to
give
evidence.
