Magistracy to confront the prisoners.
I recently received a
despatch from you
on the subject
and
requesting me
to cause the witnesses in the other charges against the prisoners to be sent to Stongkong
without delay. I immediately
issued instructions to Colonel Li in this sense and I have now received the above report.
I therefore think it
advisable to request
you
to
communicate the contents of
this despatch to His Excellency
the Acting Governor of Stongkong
that he
may
when the
witnesses have been confronted
with the three
prisoners
Tseng Lu Yi chiran, Chiang ohn bien alias Ching
Lao
Sam
and Stu a thich and the true
facts of the cases ascertained, hand them over to the officer for conveyance to Canton and thus show his friendly feelings
towards China.
