The Committee met this day at the request of the Acting Colonial Secretary.
The Report of the proceedings of the last Meeting, held on the 26th August last, having been taken as read, is confirmed.
Honorarium to Mr. Bruce Shepherd.
Read the following Minute by His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government:
W. G. CAMERON,
The Officer Administering the Government recommends the Council to vote the sum of $1,000 as remuneration to Mr. BRUCE SHEPHERD, for services rendered by him in connection with the Land Commission.
Government House, Hongkong, 2nd September, 1887.
Mr. RYRIE asks whether there is any precedent for giving such a large sum as an honorarium. After some explanations by the Honourable the Acting Attorney General, who was a Member of the Commission, the Committee recommend that the sum be voted.
The Committee then adjourn sine die.
