and an allowance for Conveyance at the rate of
two hundred and eighty-eight dollars p.a.; the appointment

It is not stated whether this appointment is permanent or for a term of years.
I sanction it on the basis of a three years agreement.
It seems to me to be no good reason for limiting the term of the appointment. A higher salary has been given than was sufficient to secure the services from this country on a temporary engagement of a combined Surveyor and Valuator.
