Find Miss Ganose came to the Colony seeking for employment. She then was in Amoy, but not agreeing with her employers, she obtained a situation. However, it wasn't quite satisfactory. She went to Foochow and thence to Japan and Bangkok, and ultimately returned to Hongkong apparently in a sound state of mind.
While staying at the Babel Mission House on her last return to the Colony, she informed the people there that she expected an important letter from Bangkok. This letter came in due course, but the contents being contrary to her expectations, she fell into a fit and locked herself in a room for days, refusing food and drink. She had a notion that the writer of the letter intended to marry her.
