Required two Overseers of Buildings.

These two men should be tradesmen, either bricklayers or carpenters or joiners or else stove-masons, and should possess experience in house building. If possible two men who have been employed at home as Builder's or Contractor's General Foremen should be selected. They should be able to write a fairly legible hand, and be familiar with the measurement of builders' work, the taking out of quantities and preparation of estimates for minor works of maintenance and repair. Their duties will comprise the periodical survey of all existing Public Buildings, the setting out of artificers' work, the preparation of templates, and the supervision under the Surveyor General of all works of repair of old buildings and of new construction.
