As compared with 1887, I understand that in the Police Forces at home, London, Manchester, Liverpool, 31 days leave are allowed to Constables every year on full pay, such leave counting towards service, and I do not think it is too much to ask for men serving away from home in a climate like this. The limited leave on half pay allowed - especially to men of good character who would be recommended for the indulgence - should be allowed to count as service.

The undersigned subordinate officers of the Hong-Kong Police Force most respectfully showeth :-

That under the present Regulation they are not entitled to any vacation leave, but only to leave on half pay for nine months after each term of five years service, such leave not counting for pension purposes.
