Referring to our recent conversation as to the moneys, the proceeds of the opium, in your hands and to the suggestions offered by His Honour all directrice Russell, we are authorized by our clients to inform you that if the German Consul will on behalf of Acting Consul for the time being in this port give your personal undertaking that such shall not be removed from the German Consulate in this Colony, our clients will not take any further steps in the matter until the 16th June next, which will give you time to communicate with your Government at home and on further undertaking to inform me immediately on receipt of your instructions from Germany, what steps you intend taking in the matter.

On receipt of your Undertaking to the above effect the matter will stand over until the 16th June next.
