Hong Kong 6th January 1886
With reference to the letter addressed to this Consulate on the 4th instant, Messrs Holton & Deacon are hereby informed that a quantity of Opium, which certain members of the crew of the German S.S. Marie attempted to smuggle into Turon, was very properly confiscated by the Captain and handed over to this Consulate. I am not prepared to give it back to the smugglers.
