I acted wrongly in this matter, though not in the precise way alleged by the Stephens; this petition is unintelligible by itself.
I have however examined the judgment of H. Phillipps (contained in App. 4, pp. 28-33, both ends of the Report of the High Court enclosed in Jour. desp. no. 265 of the 29 July last) which goes minutely with the facts & makes them Case clear.
The Complaint of Stephen prison is that he has been deprived of land on his Eastern boundary, but the fact appears to be that he has been curtailed on the Western side of his allotment; & that Govt ought not to have issued a proclamation boundary, having been led into that error by their anxiety to widen Wafitty Street, though they ought to have taken a position against it before.
I don't think that he has moral ground of complaint in reference to his Eastern Boundary land.
