No 210.

of 2 feet 2 inches from the two Plans referred to in the said Decree, and from Mr Danby's confirmatory Report of his Plan of 1880 made to the Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock Company -

As I am about selling the property, but cannot do so until this matter is settled, I have to ask that the Government will at once take such steps as will enable me to give a clear title to a purchaser.

It has occurred to me that the Colonial Government could do so by calling upon all the owners Lessees of the said Lots, No 184, 185, 186, 205, 204, and 198, between Whitty Street on the West and the next Street on the East to surrender their several leases, that the lots should be surveyed, and that the Land be regranted to the several Owners in accordance with what they are properly entitled to as between the owners and their Lessees.

Your most Obed! Serv! (S)Matthew & P. Stephens

Frederick Stewart L.L.D.

Acting Colonial Secretary

Colonial Secretary's Office

9th February, 1887

In reply to your letter of the 3rd instant, respecting Marine Lot 184, I am directed by the Officer Administering the Government to inform you that His Excellency is advised that as all the questions alluded to in your letter have been fully dealt with by the Supreme Court, the Government cannot assume that the line finally laid down is not the one indicated by the judgment; that the Government cannot in any way interfere in this matter; and that it has no right to call upon the present owners of Lots 184, 185, 186, 204, 205, and 198 to Surrender their Leases and take out new ones.

I have the honor to be

Sir

Your most obedient servant

(Signed) Frederick Howarth

Acting Colonial Secretary

Mr. M.D. Stephens, Barrister-at-law.
