extension and to pay a Premium for the extra area and additional Crown Rent.

5. The said Crown Lease of the 22nd October 1861 which described the said Marine Lot N. 184 as bounded on the south by the said Public Road called Battery Road would (although not by measurements) have comprised the said additional area without the absolute necessity of a further Crown Lease. But your Petitioner desiring to accede to the wishes of the Government and to avoid any further question as to the difference between the Boundaries and measurements of the said Marine Lot N. 184, paid $2418: 45 cents as the Premium fixed by the Government for the said additional area and duly surrendered the said lot and took up a new Crown Lease therefor at an additional rent of $9, making the total rent $2419 per annum.

6. By the new Crown Lease dated the 13th day of September 1884, and made between Her Majesty of the one part and your Petitioner of the other part, Her Majesty demised to your Petitioner the said Marine Lot N. 184 by the following description: "All that piece or parcel of ground situate, lying and being at Victoria in the Island of Hongkong, abutting on the North side thereof on the Trays and measuring thereon 100 feet; on the South side thereof on Battery Hill and measuring thereon 105 feet; on the East side thereof partly on a close registered in the Land Office as Marine Lot N. 185 and partly on another close of land registered in the Land Office as Inland Lot N. 38, and measuring altogether 343 feet; and on the West side thereof on Whitly Street and measuring thereon 340 feet 6 inches, containing in the whole 72820 Square Feet, and more particularly delineated on the Plan annexed to the said Crown Lease, and a copy of which Plan is hereunto annexed and thereon colored red and registered in the Land Office as Marine Lot N. 184."

7. Your Petitioner on the date of the completion of his purchase as aforesaid and before the Surrender of the Lease went into possession under his purchase deed of the whole of the said Marine Lot N. 184 as described in the new Crown Lease thereof, except a small portion on which the Wall of a building at the Northern portion of the purchase adjoining Marine Lot N. 185 had lately encroached on the land so purchased by your Petitioner.

8. For the granting of such new Crown Lease, the Surveyor General, the Honorable J. M. Price, caused stakes to be driven in to mark the Eastern boundary of the said Lot (the Western boundary being fixed by the Public Street called Whitly Street), such stakes being at the North East corner close up to the buildings erected on Marine Lot N. 185, and at the South East corner close up to the building on Inland Lot N. 38, the ... boundaries running in straight lines and giving the width of 100 feet throughout the lot to which your Petitioner was entitled and was in possession of as before mentioned, except as to the said small encroachment by a Wall on the Northern portion.
