2. A Mr. John Bell, M.R.C.S., and L.R.C.P., now in this Colony, has, there is reason to believe, made application for the appointment.

3. Whether Mr. Bell is thoroughly well qualified for the post, I am not in a position to say. You will probably be able to ascertain from the references given what is best required; but the man who can be got is what is very much needed.
