On the occasion of the Fiftieth Anniversary of Her Majesty's Accession to the Throne,
may it be added that, with Her Majesty's gracious approval, which is herewith solicited, the rejoicings in connection with this memorable event will take place on the 9th of November next, in which month cool and dry weather may be reckoned on with certainty.
At present, the heat is very great, and as, moreover, we are now in the midst of our rainy season, it would be impossible to carry out effectively the very extensive illuminations with which it is proposed to celebrate the event. For these illuminations Chinese lanterns are chiefly used, and the least drop of rain destroys them.
