I saw the said Wong a Lum every morning during the sarò time and had he been absent except when I was out during the day time I must have known it as he lived next to his in the said house.

My room is next to his in the said house.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of an act made and passed in the sixth year of the reign of his late Majesty King William the Fourth entitled an act to repeal an act of the present session of Parliament entitled an act for the more effectual abolition of oaths and affirmations taken and made in various departments of the State and to substitute declarations in lieu thereof and for the more sure suppression of voluntary and extra judicial oaths and affidavits and to make other provisions for the abolition of unnecessary oaths. In the matter of an Application for the rendition of Wong Sam, Masham and Wong a Lum under Ordinance No 12 of 1880.

I Channey a Sy of Victoria in the Island of Hongkong Widow do hereby solemnly sincerely declare and say as follows:

I am a seamstress and am also the manager of a money loan association and am acquainted with the prisoners charged in this case namely Wong a Lum. The said prisoner is known to me under the name of Leung af and I am intimately acquainted with the woman who lives with him as his mistress named Wong dr.

I am a subscriber to the money loan association of which I am the manager. The subscriptions are payable monthly on the 14 day of each Chinese month.

On the 14 day of the 9th month at about 12 o'clock noon I went to see Wong edo at No 61 East Street in order to obtain her monthly subscription. I then saw the above named Leung af lying upon his bed and he informed me he was ill and unable to come out.
