In the matter of an application for the rendition of Ching Sam U ashapana Isanga Chun under Ordinance n° 3 of 1 13679.

I Jung Sai Ieun of Victoria in the Island of Hongkong, Doctor, do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare and say as follows.

I am a Doctor of Medicine residing in Hongkong where I have been practicing my profession for over 19 years.

For the last 17 years I have been residing at No. 10 Kwong Yuen Street West, Victoria aforesaid.

I have seen the man who is at present detained in the Victoria Gaol and who is being tried before the Magistrate for burglary and murder. The Chinese version states that the prisoner's name is Isang Chun.

I first saw the prisoner on the 13th day of August 1886 when I was requested to visit him at his residence at No. 61 East Street, Victoria aforesaid.

I was then informed that the prisoner was named Leung a Tew and that is the name by which I have always known him and until he was arrested in this case, I had never heard him called by any other name.

The said Leung a Tew was then suffering from a severe attack of rheumatism in his left leg, the said leg being worse than his right.

I visited the said Leung a Tew repeatedly between the said 18th day of August and the 26th day...
