Ching Sam alias Chan Set Cheung,

were arrested at the requisition of the Viceroy of Canton, on a charge of Murder and Burglary within the jurisdiction of the Emperor of China. They are charged with having on the 7th day of October last attacked and shot two of the watchmen and broken into the dwelling house of one U Ma-shi and stolen therefrom a large quantity of silver and other property.
The following witnesses were examined:
1. Ji Sui, cook to U Ma-shi.
