To be read in Court for the information of the parties to the case, the correspondence which has led to the deprivation of the Magistrate of ordinary discretionary powers vested in him.

The further hearing of the case will be proceeded with forthwith.

This latter letter I wrote after the former, it being Saturday, and not being copied in time to be forwarded that day, I had to postpone sending it until Tuesday.

On Saturday evening I received the following letter from the Colonial Secretary in response to my previous letter:-

With reference to your letter 2234 of yesterday regarding the rendition case of Chung Sam Cheung alias Chau Dat and two others, I am directed by His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government to inform you that you should obtain the Acting Attorney General's opinion, which was communicated to you for your guidance.
