I have as a matter of courtesy informed Sir Francis who represents the Chinese Government what it is almost certain that I shall do, but I did this merely as an act of courtesy and in order not to allow him to be taken by surprise. I have not deprived myself of any liberty of action, and all that the acting Attorney General represents is beside the mark until the point actually arises to be decided. If when that happens the Crown is represented, and desires to be heard, every opportunity to what right will be given. Any way any claim that may be advanced on that occasion will be considered.
The case at present stands adjourned to Thursday the 25th April at two o'clock when it will be further adjourned to Monday the 30th inst. at the same hour.
