Generally, Mr Ackroyd held the Prison Judge Acting Office during 9 months in 1885, while Mr. Russell was absent on leave, and since 9th March, 1886, until the present moment he has been Acting Attorney General during the absence on leave of Mr. O'Malley. I have always found Mr. Ackroyd a most efficient supporter of Government during the time that I have had the honour of being entrusted with the Administration of the Government of this Colony, and have received great assistance from his advice and co-operation in the numerous questions which have at different times presented themselves for consideration.
The number of Ordinances that have been brought before Council and passed whilst he has been Acting Attorney General bears testimony to his untiring industry.
