2nd Proposition. That the best site, and the only available one without heavy outlay in the purchase

of land is the foreshore in front of the sailors' Home, and that the sub-Committee therefore recommend

this site for the proposed

Market building.

3rd Proposition. With regard to the dimensions of the proposed

building, the sub-Committee recommend, that as a

new

basis for

the accommodation to be provided, the entire room occupied by

the whole of the Staff-

proposed to be abolished, be calculated, and that a large margin of additional accommodation be provided to meet future contingencies. Also, that such street hawkers as keep stationary stalls (Cochrane and West Street) be taken into account in the calculation of space to be provided. Each hawker to be given half the space allowed to a market

stall-holder.
