Ord. 10 of 1867 states it is unlawful for any child between the age of eight and fifteen years to live in a brothel, whereas this Ord. deals with girls between the ages of six and sixteen. I take it for granted that it is not intended (under s. 4 of this Ord.) to leave a child with their Custodian who is living in a brothel, and that the Love hundred agreements referred to in the Attorney General's Report, enclosed in desp., have been entered into with persons living in brothels.
Ch.44 of 4.of. 247 of 1857
3. With reference to par. 5(4) of Lord Stanley of Preston's desp. no.519, dated 12th Feb. 1885, I request to be informed whether a Refuge has been established by the Society for the Protection of Children and Women, or other Body, suitable for the reception of young girls removed from their brothels under the care of the present Ordinance. If not, it may be necessary to provide for the establishment and maintenance of a suitable Home, as provided for at §§7&8 of the Straits Ordinance.
