Offences against Section 2 are to be tried before the Supreme Court.

Section 2 enact a fine not exceeding $400 or imprisonment with or without hard labour for any period not exceeding 6 months, or both against any person attending a meeting of a lawful Society.

In Committee the Chief Justice moved an amendment that offences under this article should be punishable on summary conviction, and this was carried.

The other changes indicated in the despatch above mentioned have been made.
